In today's Sci-Fi Blast From The Past, Chris Evans describes his character of Johnny Storm (a.k.a. The Human Torch) in the first The Fantastic Four feature film.
“Johnny is something of a playboy as well as a jokester,” explains the actor. “He likes a good time, is sometimes a little arrogant, and tends to live on the edge. Johnny is a fun guy to play because he has no inner monologue. He’s not shy about who he is. Some people like him and others don’t. It’s great to just pump up the volume when playing such a character and be able to take him in all sorts of directions. The tough part is trying to maintain that level of energy. I think what makes Johnny so likeable is his exuberance and zest for life. Like most people, there are days where I’m tired and don’t feel like doing much of anything. However, with a role like this you have to stay ‘on’ all day. That’s not always easy, but in this case it was definitely worth it.”
