(L-R): Martin Shaw, Gordon Jackson and Lewis Collins in The Professionals.
Lewis Collins, one-half of the testosterone-fueled crime-fighting team in the popular late 70s/early 80s British TV spy series The Professionals, passed away yesterday in Los Angeles after a five-year battle with cancer. From 1977-1983, Collins played William Bodie opposite Martin Shaw (Ray Doyle) in The Professionals. As agents serving in the fictional British law enforcement organization known as C15, and under the watchful eye of their boss George Cowley (the late Gordon Jackson), Bodie and Doyle risked their lives on a weekly basis to help protect Queen and country (more often than not catching the eye of a beautiful damsel in distress along the way).
While working on The Professionals, Collins also starred on the big screen as Captain Peter Skellan in Who Dares Wins (a.k.a. The Final Option). Collins' other TV credits include episodes of Z Cars, The Cuckoo Waltz, The New Avengers, Robin Hood, Cluedo and The Bill.
