Actor Barry Jackson, who played pathologist Dr George Bullard in Midsomer Murders, has died aged 75. He appeared in the very first episode (1997's The Killings at Badger's Drift) of the popular and long-running ITV detective series and remained with the show until 2011.
Born in Birmingham, England, Jackson will be a familair face to Doctor Who fans, having appeared in six episodes of the long-running British Sci-Fi series, playing opposite The First Doctor - William Hartnell - in The Romans ("The Slave Traders" and "All Roads Lead to Rome"), Galaxy 4 ("The Exploding Planet") and Mission to the Unknown and The Fourth Doctor - Tom Baker - in The Armageddon Factor (Episodes five and six). The actor also appeared in countless other TV series throughout his 50+ years in the business including Adam Adament Lives!, Dixon of Dock Green, Z Cars, The New Avengers, The Professionals, Lovejoy, All Creatures Great and Small and Doctors. He also appeared in such feature films as Ryan's Daughter and Barry Lyndon. According to his agent, Jackson passed away at his North London home surrounded by his family.
