This week on Vikings, the appearance of the Viking fleet causes panic among the population of Paris. The defense of Paris is in the hands of its Commander, Count Odo, who is confident that the city is prepared for the attack. The Emperor Charles, urged by his daughter Gisla, announces in Court he will remain in the city.  The Vikings establish camp downriver from the city and plan their attack. David Duchovny To Release First Solo Album - "Hell or Highwater"

David Duchovny, best known for portraying such iconic characters as Fox Mulder on The X Files and Hank Moody on Californication, will release his first solo album, Hell Or Highwater, on May 12 with ThinkSay Records, distributed by the Caroline/Universal Music Group. The two-time Golden Globe winner’s debut album will include 12 self-penned tracks, firmly embedded in his uniquely lyrical, troubadour style. The first single, “Hell or Highwater,” will be released on March 31st.

 

“Making this record is a dream come true, but I never had this dream – it's still a shock when I think about how all this music happened,” said Duchovny.  “What I do know is that I feel these songs represent the truest expression that I've ever been able to achieve and I look forward to sharing it with everyone.”

Duchovny finds himself in high demand in 2015, starring in the upcoming NBC/ITV limited series Aquarius, about the Charles Manson Murders. The series will premiere on May 28.  Earlier this year, Duchovny released his first-ever novel, New York Times Bestseller, Holy Cow, published through Farrar, Straus and Giroux.

 

Aside from his most recent achievements, Duchovny has appeared in numerous television shows, including The Larry Sanders Show, Twin Peaks, Life With Bonnie, and Sex and the City, alongside his illustrious film credits including roles in such movies as The X Files Movie, Zoolander, Beethoven, Kalifornia, Full Frontal, The Rapture, Evolution, Return To Me, Julia Has Two Lovers, Chaplin, and Playing God. Other feature credits include Trust The Man, The TV Set, and his self-directed House of D.

Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) To Guest-Star on Doctor Who

Having landed back in the UK fresh from touring the US, today Maisie Williams sets foot on the Doctor Who TARDIS to take up a guest role in the hit BBC America show that returns to our screens this fall.

Maisie has already found global fame and is renowned for her role as Arya Stark in the international fantasy drama series Game of Thrones. She also starred in the one-off docu-drama Cyberbully and was cast as one of the leads of Carol Morley’s drama The Falling. As well as being a three-time Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee, in February of this year she was awarded with a Shooting Star Award at the Berlin Film Festival.

On her first day on set, Maisie Williams said: “I'm so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it’s such a big and important part of British culture. I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town.”

Steven Moffat, lead writer and Executive Producer, added: “We’re thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.”

Bursting with drama, wit and heart, the show continues filming with two period adventures - The Girl Who Died written by Jamie Mathieson and Steven Moffat, and The Woman Who Lived by Catherine Tregenna. Starring Peter Capaldi (The Doctor) and Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald), the duo continue to time travel through epic adventures directed by Ed Bazalgette (Poldark).

Comedian and actor Rufus Hound (Cucumber) also joins the guest cast alongside Tom Stourton, Ariyon Bakare, Simon Lipkin, Ian Conningham, Murray McArthur, Barnaby Kay, John Voce, and Struan Rodger.

Doctor Who has had a decade of success since its re-launch and season 8 was BBC America’s highest rated season on the channel. The BBC Cymru Wales produced drama will return to BBC America this fall, with further casting to be announced in due course.

Olympus Premieres in April on Canada's Super Channel & Syfy US

Olympus, a 13-episode mythological drama set in the world of gods, humans and monsters, is set to premiere on Syfy in the US and Super Channel in Canada on Thursday, April 2nd, 2015 (check local listings for exact times).

Olympus tells the story of how a few brave men and women banished the Gods to the realm of the unconscious - a place they called the Underworld or the Kingdom of Hades. The series follows the protagonist Hero (Tom York, Tyrant) as he seeks the truth about his past, which may be intertwined with the Gods themselves. The series also stars Sonya Cassidy (The Paradise, Vera) as Oracle, Sonita Henry (Star Trek, The Fifth Element) as Medea, Matt Frewer (Orphan Black, The Knick) as Daedalus, and Graham Shiels (Guardians of the Galaxy, True Blood) as King Aegeus. Creator and director Nick Willing (Tin Man, Alice, Neverland) shared his role as director with many talented Canadian directors during filming, including Martin Wood (Sanctuary, Stargate SG-1) and science fiction darling Amanda Tapping (Supernatural, Stargate SG-1). Ripper Street - Season Three Premieres in April (BBC America)

BBC America’s critically-acclaimed and BAFTA nominated original British drama Ripper Street returns in April. Picking up in 1894, four years after the culmination of season two, the new season reveals a vivid and sensual descent into the lives of the men and women who must live on the violent streets of Whitechapel in late Victorian London. Ripper Street premieres Wednesday, April 29, 10:00pm ET on BBC AMERICA.

Matthew Macfadyen returns as Detective Inspector Reid, Jerome Flynn as the newly promoted Detective Inspector Bennet Drake, and Adam Rothenberg as Captain Homer Jackson. MyAnna Buring also returns as Long Susan in the eight-part season.

Four years have passed since Reid bayed for Drake to end the life of Jedediah Shine. Four years that have seen the crime-fighting axis of Reid, Drake and Jackson split and isolated from one another. Drake has left London for Manchester to become the policeman – and man – he felt he could no longer be in Whitechapel. He is an Inspector himself now. Jackson has reverted to the man Reid plucked out of the Tenter Street brothel, a two-penny, sawbones, clap-doctor. And Reid has succumbed to his own shame and isolation, policing Whitechapel with a level of forensic detail and dedication that leads Chief Inspector Fred Abberline to fear for his old friend’s mental well-being.

Meanwhile, Long Susan has made good on her threats to both Captain Jackson and the dying Silas Dugan – she has separated from her husband, taken command of Duggan’s criminal empire and turned it into a legitimate property empire of huge philanthropic ambition. But such aspirations are costly, as her loyal but scheming solicitor Ronald Capshaw knows only too well.

All these resentments, fears and ambitions are soon forgotten, however, when two trains collide on the newly constructed bridge above Leman Street. It is a catastrophe which falls into Reid’s world and demands explanation. His pursuit reunites him with Drake and Jackson and sets him on his own collision course with his past and with the secret crimes of Long Susan and Ronald Capshaw. 

The third season of Ripper Street was filmed in Manchester, Loughborough and Dublin and is produced by Tiger Aspect Productions and Lookout Point. It is co-produced by BBC America and Amazon Prime Instant Video, and distributed by BBC Worldwide. Check out the trailer below.
