It was 20 years ago today, July 27th, 1997, that the very first episode of the Stargate SG-1 TV series, Children of the Gods, was broadcast on the Showtime cable network. I will admit here and now to being a bit of a latecomer to the show, but thanks to a couple of dear friends in England who introduced me to the program, I quickly caught up and couldn't wait to watch the next weekly jaunt through the Stargate. As a TV viewer, the series provided me with hours upon hours of entertainment, and as a professional writer, it enriched my life in ways, some of which to this day I still cannot put into words. I will always cherish my many happy memories from the countless hours I spent on the shows various sets in Vancouver, British Columbia, as well as on-location in the woods, gravel pits, you name it. The show's cast, crew, production team, creative departments and publicists immediately made me feel like part of the family. Each time I had the privilege of walking through the gate at Bridge Studios, I felt in many ways like I was coming home. I had the chance to see a piece of television history being made right in front of my eyes (and even got to be a part of that history as a background player in the season five SG-1 episode The Tomb). I really would love to thank each and every one by name, but I'm afraid I might inadvertently leave someone out. Instead, I want to thank everyone who was involved in making SG-1 for inviting me so warmly into the fold and, again, leaving me not only with so very many happy memories of those times, but with friendships that I feel honored and grateful to still have all these years later. And, of course, the icing in the cake was, thanks to SG-1, I had the chance to make many more new friends and awesome memories from my years visiting the Stargate Atlantis and SGU: Stargate Universe sets. Wishing Stargate SG-1 a very, very Happy 20th Anniversary!
