This Week On Destination Truth - 10 - 21 - 09

Photo copyright of The Syfy Channel"][/caption] Destination Truth heads into the rugged mountains of Peru to investigate claims that the Incan ruins there are haunted. Shrouded in the Andes mountains, the Incan city disappeared half a millennia ago. The residents reportedly buried their gold in the tunnels underneath the city and committed suicide before the Spanish conquistadors could invade. Today, local farmers claim that their animals react violently when passing by the ruins. Josh and his team are the first to visit the region with a camera crew and stay overnight. Midway up the trail, the team's horses start to panic inexplicably; the locals will go no further and take their animals back down with them, leaving Josh and company to continue on their own. The investigation yields such compelling audio and visual evidence that Josh calls on expert analysts Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango from Ghost Hunters to determine whether the Lost City is still inhabited with spirits. The team then travels to Alaska, where locals claim a giant winged bird is terrorizing their community. A nocturnal creature said to be part bird, part reptile, the "Thunderbird," has recently been sighted soaring over the Alaskan landscape by local pilots. Josh and crew set out for a sub-zero exploration of the Arctic terrain. Haunted Lost City/Thunderbird airs Wednesday, October 21st @ 10 p.m. EST. Ghost Hunters Academy Comes To Syfy

Building upon the enormous success of Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International, the Syfy Channel is launching Ghost Hunters Academy, which premieres Wednesday, November 11th @ 10 p.m. EST/PST. Kicking off with an investigation at Fort Mifflin, Pennsylvania, Ghost Hunters Academy features a group of aspiring ghost hunters exploring some of the most haunted locations in the country and around the world. Led by veteran ghost hunters, Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango, the students train, hands on, in the paranormal arts. The new recruits venture outside conventional classroom walls, tackling new paranormal hotspots as well as favorite old haunts from Ghost Hunters including Fort Mifflin (Pennsylvania), Eastern State Penitentiary (Pennsylvania) and St. Augustine Lighthouse (Florida). By passing the course, students can graduate on Ghost Hunters or Ghost Hunters International. Not your ordinary ranch, it was built on the bloodiest battlefield of the Revolutionary War and its grounds are allegedly haunted. TAPS is called in to investigate. Ghosts of soldiers and children are rumored to disturb the farm. Could they make an appearance for the Ghost Hunters? Join Jason and Grant as they have a close encounter with our nation's past. The Ghost Hunters then head down South to investigate the Lee-Fendell House - the former home of Robert E. Lee in Alexandria, Virginia. The house was converted into a hospital for Union soldiers during the Civil War. Today, it is an historic museum. Visitors claim to see ghosts and feel other paranormal activity.
