ON Sunday, July 12th and 19th (9-11pm EST), NBC will be airing a new suspenseful four-hour miniseries entitled Meteor. This explosive thriller with eye-popping visual effects features an all-star cast that includes Marla Sokoloff, Christopher Lloyd, Jason Alexander, Billy Campbell and Michael Rooker.
In the miniseries, two scientists, Dr. Lehman (Emmy award-winner Christopher Lloyd - Back To The Future) and Imogene O'Neil (Marla Sokoloff - The Practice) discover that the giant meteor Kassandra, which is approximately three times the size of Mt. Everest, has been knocked out of its orbit and is heading straight for Earth. Its imminent arrival is preceded by showers of smaller meteorites that begin to lay waste to major cities around the globe. Desperate to alert the authorities, Lehman and O'Neil contact a military scientist, Dr. Chetwyn (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Jason Alexander - Seinfeld), who dismisses their warnings of impending doom.
Undeterred, the two determined scientists decide to drive from Mexico to the nearest U.S. armed forces base to plead their case. When Chetwyn realizes that his peers were correct, he tries to contact them for more information. In the meantime, struggling to make it across the border, they run into trouble and Imogen is forced to carry on alone. With time quickly running out, she continues her torturous journey to get in touch with the military and relay Kassandra's coordinates along with a plan to destroy the meteor.
